Dot-Away, A quilt for Valerie

Here is one of the quilts I made for Valerie Alyse Clifton, none other than my newest  grand daugther,
She was born in Dec 19 2012 I will fly to New Jersey tomorrow  i will get  finally meet her in person, and get lots of hugs from Samantha the big sister and the parents too lol !!

I"m back in the sewing room, trying to make a dent in the scrap stash,will try to post some pictures of all of the quilts I in the middle of making some just for fun.

I'm also teaching my daughter in law, 2 of my 3 niece's and my great nice + her friend, they are trying to make String Blocks,.

Roman Stripe

Yes it came back, quilted by Joyce, it looks beautiful, can't wait till I get it finish, very summery and Hot colors, August will be a good month for it.

QUILTERS CACHE except ours was done on Flannel and we did not used the trapezoid technique instead we used squares and triangles.it was a swap I did,... well long time ago I got ambitious and got quite big cause I use all the left overs and made more blocks. I gave that quilt to my D/H cause he is my star and his Family comes from Oklahoma.
My friend Joyce help me out, to figure the quilting on the border. I machine quilted it on my
"regular" machine, since it is flannel the quilting is not very noticeable that makes very forgiving when you are a novice.

Yes I'm still chasing away the blues with pink, I have so much to share and not much time, here are some pictures of what I'm working on.

Wow, ! !

What a busy weekend, the San Diego Zoo inculded, movie ( public enemy) out all day Saturday and Sunday I almost wanted the weekend to end, so I could rest. the fire works were great.

Any way just wanted to say happy 4th and happy birthday to all of the July "kids"

I'm using the QUILT IN A DAY ruler, It is petty fast but finish something in a Day I don't think so,...Not me at least.

It is petty fast since you get 4 Geese with only 4 squares of fabrics and 4 straight seams.

More later now back to the machine.

chasing away

Chasing away the blues with Pinks

I'd been doing some sewing mostly pink fabrics., I have to get all gear up for the new baby ( granddaughter)

Some how I must have the setting on the camera wrong, cause the colors came out awful sorry about that.

My Grandson friend is the recipient of a new apron, it is reversible and was made just for her, she has a new baby sister, so in my immense wisdom lol,.... I think big sisters should have a nice apron with pockets and all to be able to be mama's big helper.

It seams, I have to plan another quilt!

A pink one this time, In a few months I will be the grandmother to a Baby Girl! I'm so happy I can't elaborate, Please be happy for me.

I have to learn how to make old fashion 'aprons' I love them. !

Caleb's b-day Quilt

Caleb's birthday card arrived while I was in the middle of my Roman Stripe piecing.

For a micro second It occurred to me I should make a quilt to celebrate his growing up !!

But,... what pattern?

Once I had time to think, it occurred to me I actually had a lot of bugs in a jar! ( fron an old swap) and if I hurry, and with the help D/H with meals and stuff I could in the little time I have, complete the quilt in a week!!

I do better under pressure. lol

Cinco De Mayo was not a celebration priority this year, so I spend the afternoon piecing it. I quilted in my old MONTGOMERY WARD machine, this was given to me on my first anniversary many years ago, we just celebrated or 30+ this week .

This morning I made the label and I will make to the party on time.

Easter Baskets

You seen this quilt before! it has become my favorite at Easter , it is part of my table Center Piece.
D/h and I stayed home because!! any how here is my table and pictures from Easter celebration,.. DIL and grandson.

Roman Stripe

I put my rally hat on and guess what, I completed this Roman Stripe " top" I took the picture on Sunday, I just finished it , I'm thinking I should put a border though, it could easier to quilt, the "bias" edge could be trouble on a " long arm"

It is getting quilted by none other that Joyce, my best friend who now lives in Maine, Joyce are you reading this I hope so,...get ready and be thinking what design
are you going to use.

I had to unearth the blocks from the bottom of the"UFO" dungeon, I participated on a swap long ago I forgot what year, but wait, perhaps some one of the members of Common threads could come to my aid and tell us the age of the blocks, I'm thinking,.. 05
